Stuff I Love: Sugar & Flour Containers
A whole bunch of years ago (Maybe 1995-ish?) I purchased two plastic food storage containers for my kitchen to hold 5 pounds of flour and sugar. I had them through 3 school-age kids, for years of countless hours of cookie and muffin baking and Sunday dinners, and through several moves. Not long ago, I conceded that they were looking a little tired, although they were still 100% serviceable.
As luck would have it, a few months ago I decided to browse The Container Store website. As I was browsing through it (because I love to look at this kind of stuff), I spied updated food containers. I ordered them along with a new under-the-counter slider for my trash can. (Which also rocks, by the way!)
I was delighted when they arrived because they look really nice. Because I have open shelving in my kitchen, looks matter. I filled these up, put them on the shelf, and they look great.
I was happy with them, but really didn’t understand the value of these until I began actually using them. It may sound like a little thing, but they have a unique feature – a measuring leveler right inside the container. Whether you’re using it for flour, sugar, oatmeal, corn meal, whatever, you fill the measuring cup inside and scrape it off on the leveler located inside the container. Perfectly measured!
Seems like a little thing but…brilliant. And a time saver.
In addition, these Container Store Progressive ProKeeper containers are super simple to open and close. Just takes the touch of a finger to do so. Mess saver – no more covering the sugar container with my butter and sugar fingers when I’m baking!
My product review for these? Well, they fit all my criteria.
